A 80ft engineless, wooden Thames Sailing Barge, 1881. Registered in Rochester, Kent. 1882. Built for carrying a cargo of bricks from Medway to the Thames.
She crossed the Channel over to France and Holland, around the coast as far south as Southampton and Devonport.
Re surveyed in dry dock June 2024, all was found to be in good order. She was at this time re-antifouled.
George Smeed has been completely rebuilt / restored over last 30 plus years.

28ft wooden Smack Yacht, bought as an open boat from Portsmouth,1985.

Testers Boatyard, Hollowshore, Kent, sold her on, as a "restoration project" to her present owner in 1986. Originally, she was a twin masted Lugger, built circa 1895.
It was decided that she would be re rigged to carry a Gaff Rig, A new rig was made, new spars and sails, and an engine was installed,
The Boatyard built her a deck and a simple coach roof over a cabin.
The restoration was completed, and she was back sailing in 2013.
Old surveys were made of her in 2014 and again 2018.
