Blackbird, 23m converted Dutch steel motor barge,
Built in the early 1930's.,ex cargo carrying sailing barge (she still retains her leeboards and winches). In 1945 she was converted to a motor barge with the addition of a enclosed wheelhouse. In 1960's she was then taken out of trade and fully converted to a liveaboard, her previous name Drie Gebroeders. She was bought over to the UK in 2006.
Present owner has " used her as a home for 16 years.
Last out of water survey June 2023. Engine and associated gear in situ, decommissioned.

Entrance companionway steps, sliding hatch over, a pair of washboard doors. Enter into the accommodation, Bathroom, forward portside. Shower, Toilet and sink. Forward under low foredeck are the services a large heating oil tank and two plastic water tanks. The oil fired boiler with timer switch control and a hot water calorifier, suppling Hot water to the galley, bathroom and the radiators throughout the accommodation. Access hatch above onto fore deck. Water tight bulkhead forward with door access into the forecastle.
Galley facility along portside deck. With sink. pressurized Hot and cold water . Gas cooker with hob oven and grill. Starboard seating area which could be used for dining at.
Through bulkhead going aft into the lounge/ fold down sofa converts to a double. a wood burning stove against aft bulkhead. Access corridor down starboard side, large stowage areas under the side deck. To port is the main cabin with double berth and wardrobe space.
Aft again, enter into the original accommodation cabin: a double berth sited under the wheelhouse floor. Access ladder up into the wheelhouse.
A great enclosed sunroom, a large bench seating, access doors to side decks.
On the aft deck stand 2 x gas bottles. Good headroom, central heating and electrics throughout, (apart from under her decks....)
Hull and decks and coamings all in 6mm rivetted steel plating with paint finish
A blunt bow rounded stern and rounded chines to a flat bottom.
Last, out of water survey in June 2023, for insurance and hull condition report.
Found to be fit for purpose, as a static liveaboard vessel.
Extensive over plating to the hull, now covered in layers of epoxy paint.
Under weatherproof hatch cloth fabric are her original wooden hatch boards covering the open hold area.
Hull, decks all steel, the later addition of the wheelhouse is a varnished wooden structure. Decks are fairly narrow . Hatch boards are covered with a waterproof membrane. 2 x Velux panel sky lights. 3 x Chimneys - engine, wood burner and the Boiler.
All around the accommodation windows/ portlights have been let in giving a light and airy environment below decks. Wooden planked sole boards.
Large rudder blade hung from her stern.
Anodes replaced 2023.
